Parsonage Dedication Of Mar Thoma Church of San Francisco

 By the grace of God the members of the Mar Thoma Church of San Francisco had the privilege to celebrate the dedication of the Parsonage. We were blessed with the presence of our Diocesan Episcopa His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius. The parsonage is a blessing by the Lord, and the members consider each blessing as a time to look back at the history of the Parish.

Mar Thoma Church of San Francisco had its humble beginning dating back to the late 70’s when a group of people came together to worship the Lord as a Prayer Fellowship and was officially formed as a small congregation of 19 families on July 29, 1984.

The congregation was raised to the status of a parish within the Mar Thoma Church on June 15 1990.  From 1990, Achens from Los Angeles parish supported us by conducting services periodically. The parish worshipped every Sunday in United Methodist Church in Sunnyvale from 1993 to May 19, 2002. Since 1997, the Parish received services from Achens stationed in the bay area, beginning with Rev.Dr. Kurian Thomas,followed by Rev.George K.John, Rev. James.M.Koshy and currently with Rev.K.A.Abraham.

In the year 2002, the Parish experienced God’s yet another blessing to buy a Church building at 418 Junction Ave, Livermore and it was consecrated to the Lord on May 26, 2002. This was yet another milestone in the history of our church.

April 07, 2010 is yet another milestone in the history of the Parish. The parish was able to buy a house for the parsonage at 8579 Mahogany Pl, Newark CA and dedicate it to our Lord for the glory of His ministry. The dedication service was officiated by the Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius. The Parish is praising and giving thanks to the Almighty Lord for achieving this milestone in the silver jubilee year.

A short meeting was held after the dedication service at the parsonage. Vicar  Rev.K.A. Abraham welcomed Thirumeni. The parish secretary Mr. Satish David Abraham welcomed the gathering and presented a report of the Parsonage purchase. His Lordship  Rt.Rev.Dr. Gevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa gave a message for the occasion. Thirumeni also congratulated the Vicar and Parish members for achieving the milestone. Rev. Fr. Joseph Kalapurayil greeted the parish for the occasion on behalf of St.Gregorious Orthodox Church. Vice President, Dr.M.M.Ninan expressed the vote of thanks. The meeting concluded with a prayer, benediction, and Kaimuthu by Thirumeni. The meeting was followed by a fellowship dinner at a banquet hall near by the parsonage. The dinner started with a prayer by Mr. John Chandy. The dinner also provided a time for the parish members to meet our beloved Thirumeni.

The countless blessings and mercies we have received in the past from our Lord gave us hope and inspiration for both the present and the future. The Parish expresses our gratitude to our beloved Thirumeni for flying down here in short notice to dedicate the Parsonage. As always, it was a pleasure to host Thrumeni.  We are eagerly waits for His Lordship’s next visit to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the Parish.
