Devanahally Mission The two missionary achens and eleven full time evangelists working in Devanahalli Mission, are stationed in the surrounding villages. The following are the activities during the report year:
Edavaka : There are 4 parishes and 14 chapels.
Hostels : As a part of our social obligation we provide educational facilities for the children of our worshipping community. We run separate hostels for boys and girls. The boys hostel with 18 students at present is located at Devanahalli, and the girls hostel with 14 students is located at Chickbalapur. Clinic : In order to provide basic medical assistance to the villagers, the mission started a clinic at Beerasandra. Two doctors, two nurses and one helper are engaged in giving medical assistance. Balawadi: The balawadi provides day care and basic education to little children.
Tailoring School : The mission runs six tailoring schools where the women come and learn tailoring and later find their livelihood through self-employment.
Compassion Project: In association with Compassion International (Caruna Bala Vikas) the mission has four projects to give education and health care to the village students. There are about 1000 student beneficiaries under these projects. Self-Employment: The mission gives loans to widows and young adults to find a their livelihood through self-employment in running petty shops and rearing sheep and cows. The mission also provided a luggage auto for the benefit of a poor family.
Church/ Worship places : During the year foundation stones for two churches at H- Cross and Kayalannur were laid by Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulose Episcopa and for the worship place at BK Halli by Rev. P.V. Philip. The Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius dedicated all these in September 2006 and January 2007. The Mar Thoma Church , Bangalore , sponsored the church at H-Cross. Thirumeni also dedicated a Mission Quarter in BK Halli in January 2007.
Mission Anniversary : The 21st anniversary of the Devanahalli Mission was celebrated on 26th January 2006 . Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa was the chief guest. This programme was well attended by believers from the villages.
During the report year the mission participated in the newly started Marriage Aid and Education Aid schemes of the diocese and extended a scheme of medical support to poor villagers through a medical insurance policy in association with the public sector National Insurance Company. About 11 persons were beneficiaries under Marriage Aid scheme, 180 under Education Aid scheme and 400 under the Medical Insurance scheme.
